No! We don’t want that, where do we start?
5 Steps for better website optimization
Regardless of the platform or programming languages used, all websites have common optimization methods or best practices that can be implemented to speed up page load.
Optimize Your Images – Optimizing your page starts with structure and images. Images on the web should be as small as they can be without noticeably losing quality. If the largest the image will be displayed on your website is 1200px by 600px, that is the size you should use. Never upload raw camera images to the web, all images should be 72 dpi resolution.
- Minimize Your Page Structure – HTML is awesome, but watch how many HTML elements are you using. Can you remove any unused code, or combine elements for multipurpose use? This could be achieved by defining better classes that are used more effectively.
- Load your scripts after the DOM (Document Object Model)- Loading the essentials and the fancy stuff later will increase your load time. If your page elements do not depend on the extra code, load it at the end.
- Use A CDN (Content Delivery Network) – When you have visitors from all over the world accessing a lot of content, using a CDN will help speed up the delivery of that content. A CDN stores your files on servers located throughout the world and delivers that content to the users in that specific area. Shorter distance = Faster Service.
